Why do I design jewelry?

Jewelry is all about self-love and self-regard. It is often a constant in the way we adorn ourselves. Most women (and some men too!) have a favorite piece of jewelry that they will wear no matter how they dress, reflecting a connection, a sense of safeness and joy that transcend the moment. I am grateful to be able to make my living doing something that not only do I love but that also at some point might be the means to express such feelings.

Although I have been in the design "business" for many years, watching the new Alice B collection grow literally on a daily basis and becoming transformed into a viable and unique body of work is still an absolutely thrilling experience for me.

Living as we do on the shore of the Mediterranean, the quality of our life is determined to a great extent by the sea and all it represents. We are lucky enough to have a bird's eye view of it from every window of our home, including our studio. Our family spends as much time as possible beachcombing, the result of which is an eclectic collection of driftwood, shells and pebbles, as well as pottery shards and colorful mosaic stones, reminders of long gone ancient cities and cultures, all brought to an almost glassy smoothness by the sea's caress. Willingly or not, our moods and inspiration are in tandem with the mood of the sea. Our work, inevitably organic, is a homage of sorts, a salute to its life and debris.

This is why we have decided to call the primary Alice B collection "Light and Sea Scapes". Aside from the unique shell-like design, the striated texture inside each piece collects and reflects light as might an actual light source. This collection features various combinations of materials, such as high polished, gold plated sterling silver, oxidized sterling silver, brass, pearls and a vast array of semi-precious stones.

A close look at our current collection which we feel, today, is the summation of all we have achieved so far, will give the beholder a hint into our academic and professional backgrounds in psychology, goldsmithing, and interior design as well as an insight into our love of the aesthetic and the unusual which is never at the expense of our attention to detail.

In addition to "Light and Sea Scapes", our body of work is based upon several mini-collections, featuring various design motifs, ranging from "Lace", "Deco", "Ethnix", "Petites" and "Anais", each of which to our minds has an appeal of its own.
